If order does not make a claim on their insurance during an insurance year, for the following year a No claims Bonuis (NCB) is applied. In Japan, every year the grade progresses one step on a scale from Grade 1 to Grade 20.
If a driver makes a claim on their insurance for one accident during 1 year, they lose 3 grades.(If 2 accident they lose 6 grades) Example : If a Grade 9 driver uses their insurance, next year they will be Grade 6. This system is same for all insurance companies in Japan. If someone changes from one insurance company to another insurance company, they usually are able to keep their grade.
